0930 - 1130 : Pied Wagtail, Grey Wagtail, Chiffchaff 2 still in song, Blackcap female, Cormorant 6, Mute Swan 2 + juvenile which can now fly, Heron 3, Herring Gull 7, Lesser Black-backed Gull 62, Black-headed Gull 100+, Great Black-backed Gull, Lapwing 5, Teal 2, Mallard 40+, Tufted 12, Great Crested Grebe 5, Coot 20, Moorhen 11, Chaffinch 2, Goldfinch 10, Blackbird 2, Robin 4, Dunnock, Wren, Skylark 4 over, Meadow Pipit 2, Blue Tit 5, Great Tit 4, Jay, Jackdaw 10, Carrion Crow 5, Magpie 10, Buzzard 2, Wood Pigeon 20+, Canada's 50+.
Photo's show distant views of a fox in the quarry on 7th October. Also seen today - Speckled Wood 3, Common Darter 3. At nearby Linley Wood 7 Buzzards were seen circling at 1310, and 4 Pied Wagtails and a Grey Wagtail were present on factory rooves. Two Red Admirals and a Comma were at Winterley Lane ivy. At 1900 a Pipistrelle bat was flying around the Swag, and between 1910-1920 a Tawny Owl was calling from the trees in Barns Lane fields. (GWR)
